Year 2

Welcome to our Year 2 page!

Our Teachers and Teaching Assistants

2WP is taught by Mrs Camden and Miss Penson (Wednesday afternoon). Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Keen.

2W is taught by Mrs Reid (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and by Miss Penson (Thursday and Friday). Our teaching assistant is Mrs Smith.

In English this term, we are reading The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton. We will use this novel to support our reading and writing throughout the term, writing our own stories, reports and persuasive pieces.

In Maths this term, we will be focusing on number patterns, recapping calculations, solving word problems and securing our knowledge of money and giving change.

Just a reminder that the children will be completing their KS1SATS during May. You will receive a copy of the outcomes in the July reports.

In Science, we will be learning about living things and their habitats. We will link this with a visit to Cotswold Wildlife Park on Thursday 27th June.

History and Art

Our topics this term will be Pirates for the first half term and China for the second half term. We will use these to look closely at maps, oceans, traditions and create some collage artwork.

In RE this term, we will be learning about Sacred books. We will compare how different faiths study their special books, focusing in on Christians, Muslims and Jews.

PE/ Forest Schools

In PE this term, our focus is athletics.

2W and 2WP have PE on Fridays.

After half term, forest schools will be on a Tuesday for 2W and a Thursday for 2WP.

All children must have a PE kit in school. PE kits should stay in school and not come home and back.

We will send PE kits home for washing as is necessary.

Spellings and Reading

Spellings will be sent home on a Tuesday to be tested on the following Monday. There will be no spellings during SATs weeks.

All children have reading books and diaries. Please read with your children at home and fill in the diary.

  Please remember…
